Alfie is a small coffee roastery based in Victoria, Australia, founded in 2024 by a coffee-loving team of five. We started Alfie to bring coffee culture into the everyday routine of drinking coffee at home.

We built Alfie around the idea that good coffee should be easy to bring home, whatever stage you're at with it. Whether you've been grinding your own beans for years or you're only just getting curious about what's in your cup, we want Alfie to be an honest, approachable way to drink well at home.
Small Batch Roasting
Coffee starts to lose its character within weeks of roasting, as the aromatic compounds that give it flavour begin to fade. This is one of the main reasons we roast in small batches rather than large ones. It lets us move coffee from roaster to bag quickly, so what arrives at your door is closer to its freshest possible state, and it lets us tailor the roast to each individual lot rather than running everything through the same generic profile. Every origin behaves differently under heat, roasting small means we can pay attention to processes, batch by batch, instead of averaging it out.
How we Source
We buy our green beans from growers around the world, and we choose them for what ends up in the cup rather than for the story printed on the label. That said, the two are usually connected. Farmers who are paid fairly and consistently have the stability to invest in better processing, better drying and more careful selection at harvest. Those are the practices that tend to produce a better cup, so sourcing sustainably and sourcing well are rarely in conflict. Once the coffee arrives, it's roasted here in South West Victoria, where we can taste each batch and adjust as needed.
